Bukovel's slopes are 71 slopes with a total length of about 68 km and 19 lifts. Skiing takes place between 859 and 1372 meters above sea level. There are only 5 green slopes, 28 blue, 26 red, and 12 black. The resort is suitable for both beginners and experienced skiers. All figures below are from the official interactive map of Bukovel as of October 26, 2026.
How many slopes and lifts are there in Bukovel?
The official Bukovel ski map shows 71 runs and 19 lifts. The total length of the slopes is about 67.8 km.
Most of the lifts are four-seater chairlifts, there are 13 of them. There is one six-seater (No. 3), one three-seater (No. 9) and one two-seater (No. 2). Three more are tow-bar lifts: No. 6, No. 7R and M.
The capacity of four-seater chairlifts is 2,400–2,800 people per hour. This is the indicator that determines the length of the queue on peak days.
The lowest skiing point is 859 m, this is the bottom station of lift No. 1. The highest is 1372 m, the top station of lift No. 12. The drop at No. 12 itself is 406 meters.
The Bukovel ski trail map is available in interactive form at bukovel.com/status/map. You can also see the status of each trail and lift in real time there. The resort also publishes a paper map, but the statuses on it are not updated.
How to read trail colors
The four colors do not mean "beautiful" or "scary", but a specific level of difficulty.
Green — a gentle, wide slope for those who are new to skiing. The speed is gained slowly, you can stop anywhere.
Blue — basic working level. The slope is moderate, the track is wide, you can ride comfortably on the second or third day of training.
Red — steeper and narrower. Requires confident cornering and the ability to brake at speed.
Black — steep sections, often narrow and hilly. Only those who ski for several seasons in a row go here.
In Bukovel, blue and red slopes together make up 54 of the 71 slopes. That is, the resort is designed primarily for the average level.
Trails for beginners - where to go on the first day
There is a trap here that most articles about Bukovel fall into. In open sources, trails 1E, 7C, and 14 are called green. According to the official map, all three are blue.
There are five real green runs. The only one with the full length in official data is 17A: 612 meters, lift number 17, drop from 944 to 1146 m.
Separately, the resort designates three training sites: 1D near lift No. 1, 2D near lift No. 2R and 7E near lift number 7. Another green one, 7D, operates from the M loop at an altitude of 900–940 m.
Practical advice for the first day. The training areas are spread across three different lifts, so their occupancy varies. Before you go, check the «Queue Control» section at bukovel.com/status/queue — it shows the load online (only when the slopes are open).
If you are new to skiing, one day with an instructor at the Bukovel Ski School will save you two days of trying on your own. The school operates at the resort, and you can sign up through the official booking service along with your ski pass.
It's logical to start the second day with the blue slopes near the same lift - this way you don't waste time on transfers.
Trails for confident skiers
If you're not skiing for the first season, here's the figure for you: 54 of the 71 trails are blue and red. That's 76% of all skiing at the resort.
The longest route in Bukovel is 5K, 2625 meters, blue, from lift No. 5. The elevation difference on it is 380 meters, from 1276 to 896 m.
Next in length are 3A (2600 m, lift No. 3), 1E (2235 m, lift No. 1) і 14A (2132 m, lift No. 14). All four are blue.
The longest red one is 5G, 2106 meters, also from lift number 5. Together with 5K, this makes the fifth lift the most interesting point for those who like long descents.
Please note: the number 2132 m, which is often given as the «longest slope of the resort», is 14A. According to official data, it is only the fourth.
Black trails
There are 12 black runs in Bukovel — about one in six. For 90% guests, this is not a minus: they don't go there anyway.
They are not evenly spaced. Four black ones are gathered near lift number 16: 16B, 16C, 16D, 16E. Three more - near number 5: 5E, 5F, 5H. Two each — near No. 11 and No. 22, one — near No. 1.
The longest black one is 5H, 1549 meters, drop from 1236 to 937 m.
The resort also has two freeride trails: 12C and 12D from lift number 12. This is the highest part of the resort, 1255–1305 m.
If you are skiing for the second or third season, you can safely skip the black ones. There are twice as many red ones at the resort, and they will provide enough load.
Evening and night skiing: which trails are lit?
The official map marks five trails as available for evening skiing:
- 1E — blue, 2235 m, lift No. 1;
- 1C — blue, 1587 m, lift No. 1;
- 2C — blue, 1759 m, lift No. 2R;
- 2A — red, 915 m, lift No. 2R;
- 7A — blue, 1048 m, lift No. 7.
Four out of five are blue, meaning they are skiable at a comfortable level of difficulty in the evening. The only red one is the shortest on the list.
The lighting is concentrated around lifts #1, #2R and #7. If you are planning evening outings, accommodation near these lifts saves the most time.
Evening skiing rates are sold separately from daytime rates - current ski pass prices It's more convenient to watch before the trip.
If there is not enough snow
December in the Carpathians is unpredictable, and snow may fall later than usual. The resort operates an artificial snowmaking system, so the start of the season is not entirely dependent on the weather.
There are two ways to check the actual conditions before you go. The resort's webcams broadcast live from the slopes — bukovel.com/cams. An interactive map shows which slopes and lifts are open today.
This saves both money and mood. In October, for example, there are no open trails on the map - the season hasn't started yet.
How to get to the lift
For a beginner, the distance from your accommodation to the lift is more important than for an experienced skier. You get tired faster and return to your room more often - so do this route not twice a day, but four or five times.
Premium Hotel & SPA is located 100 meters from lift No. 1, and a few minutes walk from lift No. 2. It's a two-minute walk instead of taking a shuttle or finding parking near the track.
Lift No. 1 is convenient for the first day. Next to it is the 1D training area, and two illuminated slopes, 1C and 1E, allow you to finish skiing after sunset.
It is not necessary to bring equipment with you — ski rental is issued on site. After the slopes, you can immediately relax in the pool and sauna.
